Carroll, Seahawks' secondary blows chance, Falcons advance

That'll teach Pete Carroll to call a time out to ice a kicker.

Carroll called a time out from the sideline with 11 seconds left in the game to try and ice Atlanta Falcons' kicker Matt Bryant, who was staring down a 49 yard kick to beat Carroll's Seattle Seahawks - calling it just as the ball was being snapped...

...then watching in abject horror as Bryant pushed the dead-ball kick wide which, had Carroll not aclled the timeout would have given his Seahawks a 28-27 come from behind win.

Bryant lined up again and cooly nailed the 49 yarder to set up the #1 seed to host the #2 seeded San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday in the Georgia Dome.

Falcons Quarterback Matt Ryan reaffirmed his nickname "Matty Ice" as he led his offense 41 yards in 23 seconds to set up the field goal after Seattle had taken the lead only seconds before on a 2 yard touchdwon run by Marshawn Lynch.

Seattle came roaring back from a 27-7 deficit in the 4th quarter led by their fantastic Rookie Quarterback Russell Wilson, who shredded the Falcons' secondary for a total of  385 yards and two touchdowns.

But Ryan took over at his own 28 after the ensuing kickoff and completed passes of 22 and 19 yards against the vaunted Seahawks' secondary, setting up Bryant's game winning kick.
